Browser
A browser is a software application that allows Internet users access to World Wide Web (WWW) pages on their own computers. Two of the more popular browser products are Microsoft Internet Explorer* and Mozilla Firefox†.
Business Day
Fremont National Bank defines a business day as Monday through Friday. All bank holidays are not considered business days. Fremont National Bank & Trust holidays are New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Cache
A cache is a stored file on your computer's hard drive. When dealing with sensitive and secure data, we do not want the computer to store the information on your hard drive. On 24 Hour Banker Online, we do not cache information, but allow our customers to access their data again by using the back button.
Cookie
The most common meaning of "cookie" on the Internet refers to a piece of information sent by a web server to a web browser software that the web browser software is expected to save and to send back to the server whenever the browser makes additional requests from the server. Depending on the type of cookie used and the browser's settings, the browser may or may not accept the cookie.
Credit Monitoring
Daily credit monitoring is a system that alerts you to any changes in your credit record, making it even easier to stay on top of your credit and help preserve it.

E
Email (Electronic Mail)
Messages, usually text, sent from one person to another via a computer. Email can also be sent automatically to a large number of addresses.
Encryption
The encoding of a file in order to protect its contents. This entails a word or group of words essentially written in a secret code language - a language useless to anyone but you and your bank, to protect that message from unwanted viewing or tampering.

Firewall
A combination of hardware and software that separates a Local Area Network (LAN) in two or more parts for security purposes.

Hit
As used in reference to the World Wide Web, "hit" means a single request from a Web browser for a single item from a Web server; thus in order for a Web browser to display a page that contains three graphics, four "hits" would occur at the server: one for the HTML page and one for each of the three graphics.
HTML
Hypertext Markup Language is a language used to create documents and hyperlinks on the Internet.
HTTP
Hypertext Transfer Protocol lets computer users exchange information over the Internet.

ISP (Internet Service Provider)
An institution that provides access to the Internet in some form, usually for money.

LAN (Local Area Network)
A computer network limited to the immediate area, usually the same building or floor of a building.

Merchant
Any person that you decide to pay through Bill Payment is considered a merchant. This includes anyone from your department store to your day care provider.
Merchant List
The list of merchants you have set up to pay. In order to add additional merchants to your personal merchant list, you must use the "Add Merchant" screen that is in the Bill Payment module.
Modem (Modulator Demodulator)
A device that you connect to your computer and to a phone line that allows the computer to talk to other computers through the phone system. Basically, modems do for computers what a telephone does for humans.

P
Password
A series of numbers or characters that are used to identify yourself. This should be very unique in order to ensure privacy. We also suggest that your Password be changed frequently.
Pending Payment
A payment that has been scheduled but has not yet been paid. A payment will stay on your Pending Payment list until the scheduled payment date.
Phishing
Phishing occurs when customers receive a fraudulent email request for personal information, often in regards to verifying account numbers, personal identification numbers (PIN), social security numbers, passwords, or other sensitive information.
PIN
Your Personal Identification Number (PIN) is a security code that allows Fremont National Bank & Trust to verify that a request to access your account is authorized by you.
Privacy Policy
A Privacy Policy is a document that informs the consumer as to how a company collects and uses their personal information. We have instituted privacy and security policies specifically related to online banking processes such as; secure transactions, email security, third party use, cookies, and tips for what your role is in protecting yourself online.

Recurring Transfer or Payment (for banking accounts)
A transfer or payment that is scheduled to recur at fixed intervals such as weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually.
Recurring Payment
A payment scheduled to recur monthly on your due date.

Security Statement
Fremont National Bank Security Statement is a reminder to our customers that the security of their personal information is always our concern. Our Security Statement provides frequently asked questions and answers concerning security and what Fremont National Bank does to protect its customers and their account information.
Session Time Out
Your secure session will automatically terminate if you do not conduct transactions for 10 minutes. If this happens, you will have to log on again to access your accounts. This security measure is in place to eliminate individuals from accessing your information if you step away from your computer.
Spamming
Spamming occurs when an unsolicited email is sent in bulk to a large group of consumers. It is recommended that you delete them immediately. By opening the email you risk the possibility that it may contain a virus and will also result in an increase in unsolicited emails.
SSL (Secure Sockets Layer)
A protocol designed by Netscape Communications‡ to enable encrypted, authenticated communications across the Internet. SSL is used mostly in communications between web browsers and web servers. URLs that begin with "https" indicate that an SSL connection will be used. A secure site is one which supports SSL.

URL (Uniform Resource Locator)
The standard way to give the address of any resource on the Internet that is part of the World Wide Web (WWW). A URL looks like this: http://www.fnni.com. The most common way to use a URL is to enter it into a WWW browser program such as Microsoft Internet Explorer* or Mozilla Firefox†.

Virus
A computer virus is a man made program that is loaded onto your computer without your knowledge. A virus is dangerous because it can quickly use all available memory on your computer and can bring your system to a halt. By installing virus software you can help ensure the safety of your information online.

WWW (World Wide Web)
The universe of hypertext servers (HTTP servers) which are the servers that allow text, graphics and sound files to be mixed together.
