About UsBank History

What was to become Fremont National Bank began with the signing of Articles of Agreement on the thirteenth day of November 1871, between William R. Wilson and Alfred P. Hopkins of Fremont, Nebraska.

Nebraska had only been a state for four years, Fremont was only 15 years old and the Union Pacific Railroad had come through for only six years, helping establish businesses and overall town growth.

At this time Ulysses S. Grant was U.S. President . . . and Wilson and Hopkins made a commitment to the growth of Fremont.

Eleven years later, in 1882, the firm became known as Fremont National Bank. During the past 140 years, Fremont National Bank has grown from its original investment of $10,000 to a bank of approximately $290 million in assets.

Today, Fremont National Bank remains the first and oldest bank in Dodge County.
